Genuine LR 17H 2.5 petrol engine (5 main bearing) from my 1985 (88 reg) 90, 120K miles.
Weber twin-choke carb, starts on the button, good compression, runs sweet like a sewing machine, no smoke or issues and has a bit of oomph for a 2.5.
Includes dizzy and wires, starter motor, alternator, exhaust manifold, 2.5P radiator with Kenlowe fan, and air filter box.

LT77 gearbox is also available, again very sweet, not notchy, think it's a refurb (the LT230 transfer box is NOT available).

Engine and gearbox and parts listed above for £500 the lot, or £300 for the engine, ancillaries, rad etc. £200 for the LT77.

Buyer collects or arranges carriage. Both items need to be collected from Sussex by end of April.

Thank you for looking.

Hi Capo, could you tell me about the twin choke Weber please, i have been thinking about replacing my Zenith with one of these & i would like to get some first hand report on if it's a worth while investment or not ...

Cheers

Simon

Hi @Simon Perks,
I like the Weber and had no problems with it although it can run a little lean. Overall it's a good reliable piece of kit, main problem is blocked jets (easily accessible after removing the plastic air intake over the carburettor). There is an idle shut off solenoid mounted on the side of the carb - if this fails the engine will not idle at all. Factory fit on 4cyl 90/110s from the 80s.
Others swear by Zenith particularly on a Series. However a genuine well set up Zenith is probably a bit better than a Weber - easier to set up, more powerful, better mpg, less susceptible to dirt and water. Pattern part Zeniths have a bad rep. If yours is a genuine Zenith it might be worth a rebuild...
I'll be going efi (V8 auto) in a couple of weeks if all goes well so fiddling with carbs will be a thing of the past.
