Morning folks, having visited Landyzone countless times over the last month, I decided I'd join and plead for your input.

I got given an E reg Land Rover 90, spotless chassis, ok bodywork. The vehicle had been left for around two years so as precaution, I done the following;

Drained the petrol and replaced with fresh.
Replaced the points and condenser.
Replaced the distributor cap and Rotar arm.
Replaced the spark plugs.
Replaced the leads.
Replaced the coil pack.
Replaced the battery.
Flushed the carb with cleaner.

Got it running, was doing well, passed its MOT with flying colours however, the bad news.

I felt it was a little boggy on acceleration and was running less than what I'd like, so went for a look, turning the carb idle or mixture screws do nothing ?

It had a Webber carburettor.

If I remove the air filter and put my hand over the intake, as runs sweet as a nut. While doing the aforementioned, I can hear a vaccine type noise down the back of the engine. Had a good search and for the love of me, can't find it. All the pipes are fine, no cracks in the manifold - nothing.

I suspect it has an air leak somewhere but?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

pos manifold gasket ,,spray carb cleaner at the manifold to head joint if revs or running improves there is an air leak if its in the manifold area try replacing gasket :rolly:
