2.25 diesel manifold studs

I'm trying to remove an '82 exhaust manifold, got off all the stud nuts except the very back one which is so restricted for space it is impossible to get a socket on. An open ender will go on but it is against the bulkhead and there is no space to turn it . Thought of grinding down a socket until it will go on or is there an easier way?
