a bit of background.
ive been having serious issues finding the source of a drain.
with a dc clamp meter on negative, i have a constant drain of 2 amps. (unlocked, doors shut, no key in ignition, bonnet sensor disconnected).
opening a door increases to 5 amps. stays 5amp for 30 seconds after shutting door, then drops to 2.
unlocking car spikes up to 10 amps, for 30 seconds to a minute. then drops down to 2.

this is all with these 3 fuses removed;
f28 headlight washer (thought it could be not shutting down).
f20 steering column/seat adjust (steering column adjust was wrecking itself, end stops broken probably)
f13 ?? on the fusebox diagram has a picture like the sun. ??? i dont remember why i removed this one.

its at the point now that if i dont charge the car overnight, it wont start. i forgot to plug it in last week, the next morning it was totally dead. interior lights very dim, too flat even for central locking to work.
i took battery off to charge it, now neither remotes work (they still start car, but not lock/unlock).
alarm is working (with front windows down, i locked the car with key to see if it would reduce drain. after 10 seconds alarm sounds). BUT alarm does not go off when i unlock with key or put key in ignition.)

error codes from the secret dash menu are;
30-bf (car upside down?)
30-76
58-03
01-50
01-50
01-50

if anyone has an idea of what to check next, please reply! i can leave it in a car park for 8 hours, it will start fine. but leave it overnight and its dead.
im tempted to remove all fuses related to hvac and entertainment to see if that drops the drain. maybe someone knows better ??

removed fuses 1 by 1, rechecked battery draw.
The ONLY time i have seen below 1 amp draw is with the top tailgate open. even though the boot lights come on, the drain always drops by 1 amp.

after starting the car with boot open, doors all shut, i reached in window, turned off engine and removed key. top tailgate still open.
this is the only time i have seen 0.1 -0.2 amps on the clamp meter. as soon as i shut the top tailgate, amps jump up by 1. even though the interior lights turn off.
i also removed the fuse in the boot for the tailgate. it only stopped the bottom one from opening.

thanks for the info, datatek, but its an 07 with only washers, and fuse has already been removed for them.

1 other weird thing, in the front fuse box are 2 fuses, where the icon is a car door with key.
removing the 1st one (from left to right) made the alarm go off, and the amp draw drop to 0. the alarm sounds for 30 seconds, stops for 10, then goes off : repeat.
removing the second fuse with same icon/label does nothing.

Could it be the becm/ecu/bcm thingy surveying the car before total shutdown?
Or
Is your battery in top condition?
Have you tried another to rule it out ?
Have you changed radio's, satnav or anything like that before the problem came about?

Ooops I was too slow. Must've been typing, as you were posting :)

Addit: Even after everything has gone to sleep, the vehicle does a check of itself every so often. Draw dropping on 'alarm' fuse might relate to that

I edited that last one gold,it looked like i was jabbing a bit to hard!!!
I thought you could do more than one thing at the same time?:eek::p

I am , but none involve spying on you ............ yet
