I have a 1999 2.0 diesel, my clutch pedal has gone right down and not springing back up. Obviously I cannot change gear and dont really know where to look. I have a haynes manual and it says that this could be the hydraulic unit and not the clutch itself. I want know if this unit consisting of the slave and master cylinders and adjoining rod, can be replaced without taking any major parts e.g. gearbox, ird, off. cheers! also any ideas how much??

there are a few recent threads on this.

in meantime have a look under the driver side footwell to where the master cylinder comes through the bulkhead, there should be a rod end on the master cyliner connected to your pedal, it is possible that this rod pulls out (like mine did) ofthe master cylinder rendering it uselss. if your realy lucky the rod may just be disconnected from the pedal,us freelander owners not quite that lucky tho.

check obvious, hydraulic leaks on the pipe and stuff.

good luck
