Yes, I would think that is a good plan. You may need a new upper rear crossmember as well.

Any pics of the forward part of the chassis?
It's strong in front apart from the inside of it. Black oil fill it through the chassis is what I'll do and waxoyl outside

Post some pics when you have taken them.

Sump oil is OK, but Dinitrol is much better on the inside. Dont do anything until you have posted the pics. It is unlikely to be great if the rear end looks like that.

I would go for 4" and massif tyres, of course it will be lethal to drive at speed on a twisty road. And don't forget a stock of prop shaft you are sure to need them. ;):D:D:D
