So I was recently given a Freelander 1 as a gift from my brother, and im loving it so far. The only issue I have is that the seat doesnt seem to be able.to be lowered. My head is literally at the max it can possibly be inside. I was curious, is there any kind of mod to be able to lower the seat, or maybe another seat I could replace it with?

The seats aren't height adjustable. It's fine for normal size people, but can be uncomfortable for tall people.

I don't know of a way to make the seat lower. It's difficult to modify the seat frame safely, as the seat belt buckle is integrated into the frame, meaning any modifications could be lethal.

Damn I see. Does that mean that I can't swap the seat out for another one? Maybe from a different land rover model

I don't suppose any other seats will bolt in.

There have been posts of people changing seats, but I'm pretty sure they have got angle grinders and welders out to join those seats to the bottom bit of the Freelander seats frame so that the mountings are correct.

Over here, that sort of mod would also require official certification - not sure in the UK.

I'm not sure cutting the seat frame would be safe, considering the seatbelt buckle is mounted to the seat frame.
Doesn't the buckle bolt to the side/rear of the mounting frame? If you join another seat onto that frame, presumably the seat belt would be OK. Mind you if the seat was lower, the buckle would be too long, not giving a tight fit over the lap.

Having said that, I don't think there is much height you can remove. IIRC the door side frame is lower than the seat meaning a chunk could be cut out - but the 'transmission tunnel' side is higher with not much of an option to lower the seat. Might be wrong though.
