Hi Guys,

Been a bit of a lurker for a while so its actually nice to make a post :)

I have a 1998 Disco V8 3.9. Yesterday i had a little slow bump whilst having some fun. I will repair this myself, but need a little advice with what parts i might need?

1. New front bumper (the metal part that bolts to the chassis)
2. Passenger side end cap (the big plastic thing)
3. Passenger side front wing.
4. Passenger side front headlamp "finisher" (sits below headlamp and above bumper)
5. Passenger side washer jet

Here are some pictures:

I have purchased a passenger side front wing from a 1993 discovery (off ebay). Would this be different from my 1998 panel? It was only cheap so no big loss if its wrong. It looks pretty straight forward to replace, does anyone have any tips? I do have a Haynes so will read that later.

There is also a bar (highlighted in red on pic 4). It has twisted, and although i may be able to twist it back does anyone know how much a new one would cost?

Does anyone know what extra little bits (rivets, bolts, nuts etc) i may need when fixing all this?

I think the colour is Oxford Blue (602), does that sound correct?

MANY MANY thanks for taking your time to read this and your help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

James :)

The wing may be different around the indicator area as indicators were different in 1993 there four change points for front wings i.e 4 x pt numbers.
The bar in pic 4 is just a support for the plastic end cap although the parts book calls it a bumper support ANR2741 so if you can straiten it then do so.
The dark blue is Oxford Blue.
I hope that helps. :)

I replaced the wing on my 300tdi with a wing off a 200tdi (not sure about year) and fits fine. You will need to keep the little bracket that the light surround fits too from your current wing and mark off and drill a couple of holes into the older wing, from memory it is pop riveted in but i just used a small bolt. There were also no holes around the wheel arch for the inner wing to attach to but once fitted it is pretty secure anyway.

Wing replacement is really easy they are just bolted on. Mine was also glued but a little force and it came free no problem.

If it is standard paint go to halfords and check their book it will tell you what colour and you can usually buy the paint off the shelf (about £5 a tin for primer/paint/laquer) rather than getting it mixed up.

EDIT: Just remembered the plastic trim on the wing itself will more than likely be different (a little wider on the older models iirc) so it could be worth keeping your existing trim if it is salvageable.

seems to fit ok :)

Didnt notice the different trim until it was too late (other wing scrapped) but a trip to the breakers will sort it once I get chance to spray it the right colour ;)

Wow - thanks for the fast response guys.

I've been in touch with a few breakers, been quoted £95 for the front bumper with all attachments (plastic bits) which i think is quite a decent price.

£10 for the eyebrow, and got the wing for £25 (just needs spraying)
