Okay, Haynes has got it wrong. My 110 has a five contact ignition switch, Haynes shows a six contact switch, and colours which I'm pretty sure are wrong.

The Rave cd manuals are too new.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

I can bodge it, but I'd rather not.

Story is - dashboard out without taking pics/notes of the switch wiring - and yes, I have beaten myself up.

Edited to correct year.

Well if its just which wire goes which - and all goes horribly wrong and you can't find a diagram then find the live - mark it, then you can power each one to find out what it does. One will turn the starter over, one will turn on the ignition relay etc... You can then sit with the switch and find the common live, then with key turn it and see which one becomes live when - then its like a "draw the lines" puzzle.

I've already done that. Trying to avoid disconnecting everything on the downhill side of the 12v supply to lights, panel etc etc

Thanks all. I hadn't made a mistake, it was the diagnosis I got wrong. When I thought there was something awry with the fuel shutoff, and tested it by looking for 12V at the terminal, found it but with an injector cracked open and no fuel coming out when cranking, I assumed that the 12V I found might be a leak from something else and not up to operating the switch. So I rigged a line direct from the battery, lo and behold - fuel came out.

So, I deduced that I'd got the switch wiring wrong. Checked against all the diagrams, and reckoned I'd got it right.

Lightbulb moment. Some scrote has emptied my tank. If I'd realised that it wasn't just a dribble coming out when I hotwired the cut off, I might have twigged it sooner. My excuse is that it's the first diesel I've ever worked on.

Oh yes, I have just reconnected the fuel gauge............. arse.

Fill yer tank with water now and wait...

Well. the funny thing is....

I have a 1992 Citroen ZX - bought new and being kept for a) when the Landy isn't working, and b) For the daughter to destroy next April when she learns to drive (promised her a Series when she passes) and. if there's anything left of it, her brother will do his bit to it in four year's time.

I digress.

It's cutting out from time to time. Water in the fuel I suspect (not surprising after all these years) so last Friday I bought it a shiny new (and big) fuel filter. Also wanted to buy a manual fuel/oil type pump to clean the tank. They hadn't got one. Oh well, probably doesn't matter.

Fast forward. Last night, drove home from the pub with at least a gallon (no yellow light). This morning, start it up, yellow light and very low gauge. Thinks, strange. Proceed to town, better get some fuel. Going along dual carriageway and it still won't come back to reality. B*gger, turn back and get fuel. Run out. Walk, get fuel in can etc.. Drive to garage, top up.

Result. The thieving scrotes have a portable fuel pump. And now they have some watered petrol. Shame. I, however, have no water in my tank, and it's running beautifully.

Motion sensing video camera set up tonight.
