Hi, i am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone can help with my P38 (Auto)
The problem i am having is the engine will change up and down the gears for no reason when driving along the road at steady pace.
Driving at a steady pace say 50 mph the gears will drop down to the lower gears with the engin reving very high and then back up to the high gears and then back down. This is doing this about every ten minutes and lasts about ten seconds.I have been told this maybe a gearbox problem but i just dont know.:(
Has anyone had this problem before,i would be very grateful for any advice.

thanks

Gary

:welcome2:

Check the auto transmission fluid, it may be low.
Check the colour of it too, should be pink/redish, not brown.

Good luck

Check auto fluid when cold. Open bonnet, start engine. Move selector from P down to 1 and back again, leave running and check dipstick. Must be between high/low level, if top-up needed do it slowly and DO NOT over-fill
As said, colour is a good indicator too - if brown needs changing.

If this helps/cures then great, if not need to get it checked/codes read for autobox ECU.

The problem has now been sorted, the problem was the Throttle Position Censor.

If anyone has similar problems to this have a look at this first, the cost of the censor was £70.00 and very easy to fit.
