So was back to it this evening got a bit more done yet again then got annoyed at chasing small little patches constantly

When I stripped the gearbox/transfer box I had the drum off and over the last day or so wire brushed it on the angle grinder coat of fertan then 2 coats of red oxide finally followed by 2 coats of chassis black. Thought a shiy bit might pick my morale back up:D

Chassis is looking a lot more solid now! Great job. :) Amazing how a bit of elbow grease and paint makes a world of difference.

Yh that side is well top and majority of the sides :D next job is cut the outrigger and rear trailing arm off as chassis is like cheese underneath them, still contemplating how to lift engine out as there is no lift eyes on it

Well a fair bit done today got the n/s outrigger and rear trailing arm bracket cut off today and a rather large section cut out new reinforcement angle welded in plate made up tacked in place started to stitch it in and welder started spluttering the welding gas pixies appeared again and have nicked all the gas :( so tomorrow I think it will be lift the engine out and strip front axle off

Really didn’t think I’d see another person welding up a d1 chassis as bad as mine but here you are lol. Good work.
You pulling engine with box?

That strengthener I have made as the old ones were quite rotten and I cut into it in a few places found 6 lengths of inch angle sitting on the farm so just made new ones bit of cutting and welding back together must have done a pretty good job if you thought they was originals :D

I thought how the hell has he done that Haha!! Are you treating all the inside of chassis?
I was gunna get on mine today and have full tank of gas but ended up sorting out a door that wouldn’t shut ffs

I have been putting fertan in a weed spray bottle and spray inside and treating none holed parts as I go when it's built back up it shall be treated properly inside just thinking about best option for it, I was set to spend all weekend on it then ran out of welding gas :( so will pull engine and front axle tomorrow and no doubt farm duties will take over at some point in the day, always the way something else always comes up

Was out the door early this morning got another bottle of gas straight home and finished welding in the side repair piece in 2 minds to carry on as weather doesn't look to promising today

Finally got a break in the weather all be it a tad windy at times was hoping to finish the top half of the nearside chassis today but that went out the window when I found out the state of the cross memeber in front of the fuel tank :(

So lots of little patches done on rest of the nearside chassis leg and side put on crossmember in front of fuel tank will finish that off once the chassis is flipped over, gave everything on that side a coat of fertan ready to have some red oxide tomorrow to protect it until I can get new outrigger, spring seat and trailing arm bracket

Looks like you are you going to be finished your chassis before I’ve done mine! Great work. Have you much experience using Fertan? I have never used it before. Is it good stuff?

I've still got to flip the chassis over and the underside is bad haha. First time using fertan mother in law got me it for Xmas it's a long process wire wheel on the grinder first then wet the metal and paint fertan on with a brush leave for a day damp cloth over it job done brilliant stuff but not the cheapest

Finally the n/s chassis leg top and sides are complete red oxide on the parts that were coated with fertan last night and rest wire brushed and coated in fertan and will be painted this evening, now to start the fun all over again on the o/s

Really coming together now. Your Mother in law got you Fertan? All I got was rubbish after shave from mine. Rust preventer would have been much more useful .:D. Let’s see what the underside looks like now....

So nearside chassis leg top and outer is in red oxide where ever bare metal was couldn't get a decent pic due to the sun, the red oxide is touch dry in about 10 minutes it's great and made a start on the offside which is somewhat worse to an extent
