Is it possible to replace the little black box on the diesel injection pump with some sort of normal stop solenoid? Or is it possible to wire it directly to the ignition switch?
I've had a bit of a melt down of the vehicle wiring harness [due to an air con pump clutch electrical problem and the fuse didn't blow soon enough] and so I need to do a significant bit of rewiring [engine loom and under the dash] and am looking for a simple solution to get the engine going as I doubt I'll be able to ressurect all the immobiliser functions.
My disco does not have a spider unit behind the dash and I connot find an ECU, instead it seems to have a little black box bolted to the diesel injection pump where you would expect to see the stop solenoid.
This is not the same totally electronic injection pump unit as fitted to auto gearbox models [I believe that one has no throttle cable] as mine has a throttle cable, throttle position sensor [for EGR - which is disconnected] and this little black box with 3 wires to it [they look white, blue and brown] its bolted on where the stop solenoid is normally positioned.
I've looked every where and can find no ECU on the vehicle [only found EGR control unit, Window lift control unit and the radio receiver unit for the two button key fob - and I assume that receiver unit also acts as an immobiliser] so assume this little black box simply controls the stop solenoid on receipt of a voltage signal from ?, I know not where.
[If this mod is possible then I realise I'm probably going to have to make alternative arrangements for a wire to feed the starter solenoid.]
