1996 90 Steering wheel issues!!!

Hi all, small issue that got me all confused last time a changed a steering wheel... I need to change the wheel on my 96 300 tdi 90 but am waiting for a puller i ordered before i whip it off. does anyone know how many splines it will have so i can cruise ebay now for a replacement? trying to find the answer on line i got all confused and local garge said it could be 2 different numbers of splines??? help please...anyone... Cheerss p.s. on a smug note my 71 series 3 went thru the mot with NO ADVISORIES after 2 years off the road this week !!!! smug smug smug i was when i collected my free tax disc......... Ha Ha Mr Brown take that !!!!

What do you need a puller for? Undo the center nut. Put it back on a couple of turns and then yank it repeatedly while smacking it with your knees. It WILL come off. You just need to get a bit mad with it.

ratty's advise is good. I took the nut off, went mad and smashed myself in the face

you can count the splines if you just remove the centre cap and nut, your garage is right, 96 300tdi there was a split. either less (courser) or more (finer) splines. mine is a 96 and was 48 spline i think from memory. dont quote me on that!
