So having taken the timing cover off and chain etc(forgot to take pics) these were in the sump

started to clean the turbo up for it to go back on and found it was seized. So I split it open and found this in the exhaust side

And this damage to the fan.

So on the lookout for a new turbo if anyone has one. I could free the fan off by filling the burs off but that's going to put it out of balance and it wouldn't last very long. Could go rebuild kit way but reviews on the kits is not good. Inferior parts etc.

Whatsoever damaged the impeller has to have come from from the combustion area via the exhaust. It cannot possibly have been damaged by anything from the front case. Think if you take the head off you maybe short of the greater part of a piston.

Yeah im thinking that also judging by the amount of shrapnel that
was in the sump. S/h turbo ordered 30day warranty £70, rang emmotts in colne they wanted £150.

So after refitting everything back on and filling all fluids, the moment arrives. Give the crank one last turn just to make sure there are no clunking grating grinding or other sounds that shouldn't be there and no there wasn't. Key in ignition hold breath, and turn, cranked over to bleed. Nothing. Got wife to crank whilst I checked clear plastic pipe. Loads of bubbles but no fuel. Oh great I thought intank pump gone. Went to the back opens fuel cap and stuck my ear to it and hmm pump humming away nicely. Hmm dodgy filter I thought so took that off and blow through it. No that ok. Jug under filter housing ignition on and nothing. o_O
All back on again and put vacuum bleeder on clear pipe got fuel. Reconnected turned ignition on and watched. Fuel seemed to flow backwards hmm i wonder. Went to tank access panel and cracked the pipe unions one at a time, and yes fuel there. Back to front took fuel return off and placed in jug ignition on and oh fuel flowing doh:oops: I'd only gone and connect the pipes the wrong way round when I put a new lift pump in:oops::oops:. Swapped over, ignition on. yeah:) fuel flowing through clear pipe. Crank crank crank fire. Woohoo she lives. Blead the injectors and heard fluid dripping quickly looked round turned engine off only gone and pinched an o ring on the oil cooler pipe. God a lot of oil can come out a small gap in a few mins. Replaced o ring refilled. And started her back up checking for any other leaks:oops:. All good. Took her for a test drive and were back on the road again :):):):)
