Afternoon gents and ladies,

I recently imported a 1995 4.6 HSE from Japan that unfortunately has some bizarre electrical issues.

When driving, the headlights randomly come on (or go off if they are already on) and the dash ocasionally flashes random messages. There is also the noise of a relay clicking and the interior lights have come on too. Basically its odd random behaviour, the only consistent thing is the headlights.

It sat on a ship for a few months so the battery was dead when it arrived and the key fob is no longer recognised by the car.

Also the air con doesn't work - the control panel seems to but there is no air coming out of the vents. Are the blend motors the most likely culprit?

Any ideas before I take it to Land Rover?

Cheers,
Bryn.

Hi the electric problems will be due to a becm fault or bad/green connectors witch are located in both nearside and offside kick panels in under the dash, check connectors first also look for damp carpets as electrics and water dont mix, sometimes running a dehumidifier in the car will sort out some of the problems a new becm which is the main brain is about £650 pound new so check all connectors first, try sticking your key in the door turn to lock and press the lock button on fob then turn to unlock and press unlock on remote this should resynchronise key to becm again hope this helps tiga.

I'd check all the earthing wires and main electric wires. They are very prone to corrosion and can cause weird electrical problems. If it has been sat on a ship for ages, corrosion is quite likely.

Matt.
