Dont forget to clean your intercooler out as well, also your inlet manifold shares it,s gasket with the exhaust manifold when you come to change it.
By the way just to trigger the debate further to those who completely remove their EGR Valve. How about letting your insurance know you have fitted a performance enhancing mod  ,which they will be able to see with very little problem.Leaving the valve in with the blanking plate does not look as obvious ;) .
Removing the EGR doesn't get classed as a performance modification, it's a removal of an emission control device which may require the vehicle to be given an early MOT or at the very least an emissions test.
I'm going to remove my EGR completely.
Fit typhoon exhaust with expansion chamber. (custom done)
New very large intercooler.
Larger Turbo and alot more mods, once they are done, then I'll declare to insurance company, for now like when I came to this country..
I HAVE NOTHING TO DECLARE!! :D

As has been said 100's of times here, teh EGR valve wont even be looked at during an MOT neither is the cat on a disco. Many people have sailed thru MOT's with no cat/egr ;)

My TD5 has a cat.
Is there a handy pipe out there would let me get rid of it?

Cyanide, I seriously thought about the twisted performance kit and very nearly went down that road, but in the end I found it wasn't worth it for my requirements. I have had the following done to my 300Tdi; Removal of EGR, Removal of Cat, (replaced with Defender front pipe) added K & N air filter and added snorkel. Result, a Disco that now I feel confident in when overtaking and one that pulls up hills like a train. Overall I got 36 mpg during a 3000 mile trip round France.

I also take the Disco off road, (though not the really heavy stuff) and find that the type of trials I take part in only use low revs and lots of skill, so I did not need the high power offered by the performance kits.

I also tow a big, heavy twin axle caravan which the Disco now seems to hardly notice.

Think very carefully about what you are going to use the Disco for before shelling out, you might find you can get the performance you want without going to massive expense. However, let me know how you get on with the Twisted kit should you go down that road.

I'll keep you updated for sure, EGR blanking made a noticable difference, I've got a de-cat pipe on order which I'm hoping will again make it pull more freely, and will look at forcing the airbox with cooler air. It's finding time and money at the moment, my plans have gone somewhat slower than expected, especially with it just having it's gearbox rebuilt as it went duff recently
Sorted now though :D

My main use is around town and motorway, this Disco doesn't get the off road use my other does, and after going from the TDV6 D3 to the 300 tdi, it's like driving with the handbrake on, it's a very lethargic surge forward.

But the 300tdi is a real LandRover with a bloody big chassis and two bloody big axles, and which will still be going strong long after the Ford (or whoever own LR these days) TDV6 has been scrapped.

If you are a LANDROVER person, going from a TDV6 to a 300 tdi is an UPGRADE.

i didnt notice a difference on mine. What could i have done wrong? No leaks, used proper gasket and plate and new rubber hose.

Trust me I prefer the 300 series, which is why I spent so much on customising it. I just wish it'd actually move it's arse when I put my foot down, practically most 4x4s are faster than it, even Defender 90's out pull it.

Sounds to me like it may have a problem then.

Check out that the Turbo Boost compensator pipe is intact from the turbo/inlet manifold to the capsule on the injection pump, and then get the top off the capsule and clean out the crap, and make sure the diaphragm spindle moves up and down. If it is stuck, just cleaning it and freeing it off might make a BIG difference.

It almost sounds as if it isn't adding the extra fuel when the turbo starts to blow.

For the money it's very good, you got a hose and the blanking plug, unless you want to spend about £40 alone on a silicone hose for it, which will last longer that the standard rubber, but the rubber has a damn long life anyway, so I'd say get the £16.99 one off ebay, they use decent blanking plate material too. :)
I bought a 300TDi auto, well serviced but grubby. Pulling away from standstill felt like it was stuck in mud and quite slow until it hit 45mph. I bought the EGR removal kit on ebay and did the filthy job without problem. It`s made a big difference straight off. It now accelerates as good as a petrol ES( which I am now selling). Might be my wishfull thinking but I think its also a bit quieter

Try Paraffin to clean. I've just flushed out both my inlet manifold and Intercooler (Blown Turbo). Just make sure you let it dry out before re fitting. Works a treat and for only £3 for 5 ltrs.

you talk rubish! i have a td5 defender and a tdv6 disco. both as standard have more get up and go than any modified 300 with the bonus of no cam belt to worry about. these engines will out live the 300 because of this.

How many modified 300's have you had? and please use the 'quote' feature so we know who your responding to.
