Neighbor lady asking my help with her 1994 Range Rover. It is listing to the drivers side by about 2cm. The suspension warning is lighted on the instrument panel and the up/down switches flash for a short time then lamps stay on steady. Compressor runs for only a short period. The four position sensors are free of obstruction and outwardly clean. The tires are properly inflated and look new. What am I missing?

This is my first post. The Rover was purchased new by my neighbor and up to now only serviced by the dealer. This is sad because I find the engine is filthy with rotted vacuum hoses hanging loose and wires disconnected. The dealer is a 5 hour drive down the mountain to Phoenix, AZ. Getting it serviced is usually a 2 or three day ordeal and she seldom gets away for less than $2k. I have found where most of the vacuum hoses attach except one (I think). One end comes through the firewall behind the brake master cylinder and the other end goes through a hole just fore of the horn. The ambiguity is, near the compressor, there was a plastic "T" in one end of the hose that could join these 2 sections of hose, but no third hose that might complete the connection. Anyone know what is at each end of this hose? Is there a third missing hose?

Are you able to get a good clear photograph of this T piece? It may make identifying it easier.

Yeah it looks as though there are **** takers on both sides of the pond. As Woogoo say we need pictures. EAS UNLOCK needed to read and reset faults.

That sounds like it might be the vac hose for the cruise control.

That doesn't sound right if you're looking for EAS problems. You need to be looking at the pipes and electrics associated with the valve block. Have you checked the air springs for leaks?

Thank you all for the responses. It is good to know I am not alone on this task.

I do not think the vacuum hose puzzle is related to the EAS problem, just another problem with this dealer maintained vehicle.

If I can figure out the attachment process I am sending some photos of the vacuum lines in question.

One response mentioned "EAS Unlock". That sounds like software. What is the preferred source for the software?

The air bladders all appear in near new condition.

Is there more than one compressor on this guy? I found the air cylinder on the frame rail, drivers side. What I thought was its compressor is just forward of the ABS. Or, is that guy for the ABS?

Thanks again.

Range Rover-1.jpg The white "T" fitting is shown inserted into a split hose that goes through the firewall. There is a loose hose just below and right of the fitting that probably should be attached to the fitting as well. I see no sign of a third vacuum hose that could attach to the third port on the fitting.

Range Rover-2.jpg The loose hose mentioned above runs forward and goes through a body panel forward and below the horn. It bends toward the centerline but, I cannot find where it terminates.

Range Rover-3.jpg Is the compressor in the forground part of the ABS or EAS?

Range Rover-4.jpg Same as attachment 2, above.

Just had another look at Pic 1. Looks to me like the "T" is in the cruise control system. If that is a dealer maintained motor I'm Superman!! Looks a bit grim under the bonnet. Got any wider angle pics. What's with the disconnected wires? Admittedly it could be they are just "spare" connections that aren't used but really the state of the vac lines is not too good. Cut them back if possible and reconnect.

That AINT a p38 Kev (Unless its bin "Seriously Messed with") THAT ABS pump is transverse on the P38 its "In Line" (Front to back)

Cheers you confirmed what I suspected. My Mum had a P38, jolly nice it was too, loved that 4.6 but never got to get into it with the spanners. Maybe I'll try and get my paws on her L322 be a laugh taking that laning:eek:

That Looks seriously like my old Disco 1 4.0 V8 engine .. IF it is the missing bit of hose goes to the Cruise Control Vac Pump which is situated behind the front nearside headlight (Under the bulkhead) ... & ITS A BITCH to get at ....The ONLY way is from underneath thru the front wheel arch AFTER you've removed the nearside Headlight assembly.

If I'm correct, FORGET replacing it .. go scrapper hunting & get a P38 Cruise/Vac Pump, fit it near to the "T" piece (just under the nearside windscreen,) & wire a new switch on the dash back to the "New" Pump & connect yer Vac hoses.

Don't worry its PURELY MECHANICAL all its does is "Pull" the "Cruise Cable" on the accellerator cam ... NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with ECU's or Electrical....

Being a '94 model it should be a sepentine engine I'm not so familiar with those but I wouldn't have thought they would have made too many changes from the earlier 3.9 that lurks under the bonnet of mine in which case, the cruise vac pump is attached to the inner wing by 3 rubber mounts and is relatively easy to get at although the later engines have a large air box that I suspect will be getting in the way. If the cruise pump is where you say then yeah, could be a bit fiddly.

If the OP does a search of the forum I recently described the vac hoses for cruise, can't remember if it was in this section or the It's a V8 mate section. If I get time I'll take a quick look through the workshop manual for the suspesion which I think is the primary point here. Mind you I suppose a quick download of Rave would sort it.

Yer right Kev, my Disco 3.9 EFI (4.0) was a 97 & the cruise Control Vac pump was where I said before but in my case my disco had been Exported /reimported to & from Gibraltor & had been "LPG'ed" in Spain...... Guess where the clowns put the vapouriser ?????

OH YEAH!!!..... Right over the sodding access point to the cruise control pump !!!! & RIVETTED IT to the inner wing .. I HAD NO FOOKIN CHANCE of gettin at the CC vac pump...hence the "New pump" in the place where they ALL are now ... passenger side inner wing !!!!!

Not a lot you can say about that really. Obviously not paid to think. Catch yers later, one more beer then up the wooden hill.

The disconnected wire pair is for a night light on the inside of the engine room. I think they are disconnected for the lack of a manual switch for daylight operations. Is that a worthwhile modification (a manual switch)?

Being a Range Rover the bonnet will be open for long periods of time:eek: the light will drain the battery!!

I have found if the switch is old you can actually use it as a manual switch.
