Hi all just a quick question.
Did all Discoverys have remote locking or just some of them.
I ask because mine came without one.
Not all the motors work properly but thats not a problem and the indicators flash 3 times when locked but should it have a remote.
How can I check.

Thanks

Not all had central locking, some it was standard and some it was an option. I expect your vehicle did leave the factory with a remote fob, how you check that, LR may tell but it was a long time ago.

It has central locking and an alarm sensor in the roof but no remote.
I will do some looking around for control units when I can.

Hello rufday, im almost sure it should have a remote, you can get a new one from a place on the internet, but i am buggered if i can remember where. I had the same problem, and i sourced a place and bought one, it cost about 60 quid though and it gives you full instuctions on how to programme.. It is well worth it in my mind, i will try to find retailer for ya..

Found It ..... http://www.remotekey.co.uk/cars/land-rover/discovery-I-1993/

Good luck.

For the sake of £70 getting the fob/programming it why not just continue locking the Disco with the key. If someone want's the Disco they'll have it regardless!

Thanks for the Info guys I have found the instructions for programming them but just wasnt sure if it should have remote locking.
Checking them out they seem expensive secondhand ( I wasnt expecting cheap but I would want 2 ) so I will keep an eye out.

Thanks again.

Exactally mate, for the sake of 70 quid, which i think its well worth it. It is A Right Pain In The Fukkin Arse with out it.... Oh and that site is the one i used an the service i received was excellent.. You might go down the fleabay route for a second hand one !!! which might turn out to be a dud.. At least for the 70 quid, you will get the after service..

Thats what I was thinking but im also looking at aftermarket kits.
There are some with flip key type remotes for around £30 quid that come with the correct key blanks that just need cutting.
Just need to get the locking working prperly first but my first job will be the timing belt and a full service and see how much spare cash I have left.
