1992 disco brake callipers

Just bought a 1992 Disco with new discs on the back, both sides are making a grating noise, the seller told me he had eased off sticky pistons and replaced the discs, will the noise go with some miles or will I need new callipers or should I attempt to free them myself. The brakes dont bind at all.

Perhaps you should jack up the wheel off the ground and give it a spin to locate the grating noise. If the brake is not binding then the pistion is returning (backing off) and therefore not sticking.

The calipers are known to wear sufficiently that the pad slides down into the centre hub. First step would be to measure the depth of the pad from the outer edge of the caliper, although you might be able to see any abnormality.
