As depending who you use their is quite a waiting time. I ordered from Richards' and was told a lead time of 10 weeks, I'm now at 14 weeks.
You have the space to store it and it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it when the time comes.

I agree with both of these posts. I think I was very lucky, I ordered the chassis one day and picked it up 3 or 4 days later. That was from a local Landy specialist, so they must have had a supplier who had it in stock. Not directly from RC. I wonder if you can put a deposit on it, so you are not paying out the full £1500+ all at once? Leaving you a bit of flexibility with your cash. Or, if the axles are going to take a lot of money, perhaps you could do other work that's more labour than money intensive first. It all needs to be done, maybe in a different order than you first thought.

Just a quick update to fill in the past 4 months. I apologise now for the slow progress but it's never going to be a quick project, what with attempting to have some sort of social life after working two jobs and a girlfriend!

The ninety now looks like this



What caused the ninety to come off the road last October, was the clutch going just a few days before the MOT. I finally got to the bottom of what went wrong...


Yeah that'll be it. It was 2 months old at the time it failed.

Pictures can be deceptive, but the body work looks to be in good condition for a vehicle of that age. What are the tub to chassis connection points like? As Jasper24 said, it may be worth getting the body cappings shot blasted and galvanised. Rather than buying new galv ones. Collect lots of bits together and get them galved all at once. It's cheaper that way.

The Discovery or the Ninety? The Disco is very good bodywork wise but chassis is rotten as a peach, and the whole front end is missing
The Ninety is incredibly deceiving in pictures. No where near as good as she appears!

Looking forward to the updates. Really jealous of all that workspace! Goodluck with the rebuild. Is a chassis ordered yet?

Sorry, I was referring to the 90. The tub looks ok where it bolts to the chassis and often there are just big holes left. But, as I say, it's hard to tell by a picture sometimes.
