1986 2.5na Power Steering pump seized

Pump seized and snapped belt.
Does anyone know if driving it without the pump or any fluid in it will cause any further damage or strain on the power steering box?
Any recommendations on replacement pumps just had look on greedbay about £140 for aftermarket pump.

I guess if you block off the flow and return pipes so fluid is retained in the steering box it should be ok for a bit.
 
Yes good point will do that cheers. Want to take pump off before ordering one just to make sure I the right replacement.
