Evening all,
I have a 1985 110 CSW which has had an air conditioning system retro fitted to it by the previous owner, who, unfortunately passed away in 2010.
I am trying to restore the A/C unit but am having trouble not only locating the parts, but understanding how the system works so I can assemble it correctly.
I have searched forums on this site and a few refer to the unit, but they are different questions and have different answers, so I am none the wiser.
I will go through the system facia I have hoping that someone can shed some light on the subject.

Dash.jpg Here is the facia I have, only the fan switch works.
Dash control.jpg This is the control unit
behind dash.jpg This is behind the facia.
air hoses.jpg The blue vacuum hose connects to an accumulator under the bonnet, but is connected to nothing, there are also the white and green vacuum hoses that connect to nothing! I am thinking they go to a block then activate different vacuums, depending on the switch activated on the control panel above?
Can anyone help please?
Thanks in advance!!

I have no idea about your exact system but I would like to try and help.

This accumulator that you speak of, are you sure that it is not a vacuum actuator?

These pipes that you have floating around, are there any connections that they can go on? Are there any missing switches?

Does the A/C unit have a makers name and serial number on. The control unit looks older and being retro fitted may also have a name and serial number. I suspect most older A/C units would follow a standard pattern in fixing worth checking this way. Could be worth a chat with a garage that does gas refilling as they could help also and give you advise on whether it safe and sound to use.

Hi Dieseldog,

Regarding the accumulator, it definately isn't an actuator, although there are actuators inside the facia that look as though they operate the vents directing the air. But the actuator is definitely a store of air, hence the term accumulator.

The pipes that i am holding in the picture have no connector block, so thats what i'm hoping people can help me identify, I haven't traced these yet to see where they lead.

Your help s greatly appreciated, are there any more photos you would want to give a better picture?

Cheers

Hi Saxa,

No not that I can see, a lot of the A/C system is missing, condensor, pump, plumbing, but the evaporator unit is there, not sure if it is complete under the covers as I haven't removed it yet.

I will take a pic of the evaporator unit tonight when I get home and post that, hopefully it might help.

Cheers

Steve
