1982 Range Rover wipers

Eventually speed 2 got moving enough to clear but if I switch off it doesnt park.
I had a look at the switch but there are no exposed contacts like the indicator has, I did spy a black box under the dash wired to the switch.
Just wondering if there is anything else I can do before taking the bonnet off etc.
