New starter fitted (tested), turns engine directly connected via jump leads to starter but nothing when key turned, not even a click - any clues? Don't think I missed a lead. Fuses seem ok.

Cheers
Dave

If it's a petrol it will probably have a separate solenoid - Check the connections, make sure it's got a good earth and check the high current live and earth leads. The bellhousing to chassis earth seems to cause problems. An earth lead directly from battery to block isn't a bad idea. A multimeter will help you see if there's any energising volts to the solenoid coil.
