Hey up folks
more progess,

we've got varnishing finished on the floor and got it fitted in place to stablise the tub while we removed the old rear cross rail and marked out, drilled and fitted the new one.

the old and new rear cross rails and the new one fitted.

Ive also cleaned up and fitted the seatbelt mounting, this was a little more involved than I hoped due to the ali behind the steel mounting was totally gone. So Ive made and fitted doubling plates on either side of the front cross rail and were they come up through the floor behind the seats. I arent decided weather I fit seat belts or not, what are your thoughts on this?

Ive also cleaned up and fitted the stiffers which go behind the door latches, the same needed doing here, with regards doubling plates.

Ive also cut out the bottom section of both rear quarters as they were both corroded and had been plated over with 1/16" ali and steel bolts which did nothing to help the matter.

So Im remaking them flush with doubling plates behind once again, I think this way is far neater.

Many Regards Chris

How do, Its been awhile I know, but Ive got loads done.
The toolboxes are finished apart from the lids which just need fitted.
I`ve welded up all the holes that were`nt needed, mostly on bulkhead behind the seats.
The inside of the tub has been rubbed down and primered.
The underside of the tub has had one coat of underbody shultz, with a another coat tomorrow.

I hope you are still enjoying this as much as I am, Keep ;D folks

Many Regards Chris

Wow cracking work as ever Chris, that tub is a work of art looks like its taken some time. whats the reason behind the wooden floor? and yes i think its a good idea to fit the seat belts.
keep up the good work :D

Hi Sam, the reason behind the wooden floor is : one its cheap and i like cheap, two its a damn sight thicker than the 1/8" ali sheet that was there and its a good insulater both sound and temperature.

Adding a whole meaning to chopped n slammed vehicles :D

Many Regards Chris.

Hello Folks, I hope your all well,
right a fair been has happened recently, one the electrics at the front end are finished and the bulkhead is off for painting.

whilst the bulkhead has been off so far Ive welded up all the holes that are no longer needed and Ive convented the hand trottle lever into a heater control to the heater valve on the back of the 200 tdi head so at least it has a fuction now.

also Ive got the seatbox into primer and a pair of panels made for over the fuel tanks, and Ive starting panel bashing on the wings.

Ive changed the sidelamps to double filerment bulbs so they operate as indicators as well, the reasons for doing this is one I rather like the look but more importanly the area behind the indicators is quite badly corroded and its easy just to fill the holes in.

hopfully some picces tomorrow (or rather later on today now that Ive seen the time. ::) )

Regards Chris

Now then it`s being a while I know, so here an update.

she`s back in one piece apart from the doors, upper side panels and roof.

one toolbox, I haven't cut it down or anything, just slid it in.

an extra dash panel.

Many Regards Chris

that's spooky I was thinking the other day hadn't seen this thread for a while, didn't realise you could get so many pics in a single post :D

really starting to look the mutts nuts now

OK an update, all of the red paint finally finished, woohoo
and we've started on the upper sides, removing pop rivets that were neither use nor ornament.
welding up holes that did nothing apart from let the wind, rain, hail and other assorted crap into the truck and finally making and fitting a corner rivet which had been removed for god alone know what reason, flattening out and filling a couple of serious dents.

and last but not least flatting down and the first base coat.

beer along the way helps.

Hoping your all well, Chris.

Hey, well can say after a lot of work, blood, sweat and tears, she passed her mot first time. of course she`s not finished but she is up and running.
So without further ado.

I would like to thank everyone who has given me advice, support and for sticking with me through this.
I would also like to say that without my father`s constant guidance, support, knowledge I would probably given up a long time ago, so thanks dad.
