Thinking of changing from 17 inch alloys to 16 inch 5 spoke alloys (The common ones).
A 16 inch from a car of the same year, 2003, fits ok but I wonder if there has been any change in wheel dimensions for different model years. In particular I wonder about changes to the disc brake unit.
Any advice appreciated, thanks.

The earlier ones (I think before about 2000) won't fit the later. The trouble is, I believe that is not quite true, they will go on, but you are putting too much load on the wheel studs, so they will start breaking a year later!

think it's apparent when you put them on, the wheel has to be persuaded on, and just doesn't feel right. hard to explain, but if you're used to taking wheels on and off you'll know what I mean.

Post 2000 MY had a different brake disc and pad setup. Also the rear hubs were modified.

Any wheel from a post 2000 MY will be ok on your vehice. 16" wheels are sooooooo much cheaper than 17's.

Regards,

Steve
