Found these on internet and understand this is a rarely seen size in AT, so thought it worth posting.

Falken Wild Peak

Falken Tyres / SUV 4x4 / Falken AT01 WildPeak AT Falken AT 01 - SUV Tyres - 4x4 Tyres - All Terrain Tyres - Off Road Tyres - 17" R17" - 215/60/17, 215/60R17

Would they be wide enough though?

Well AT's are generally narrower than road tyres on FL's. I think needs consideration as pros and cons. No way your gonna get the same ride and quiet on motorway with an AT. Falken reckon there brilliant compromise between AT and road but then I guess they would. I've never had AT's but I do love the look of them on other members FL's. Sticking with 235's till they knackered, so maybe take another look b4 next winter!

Well I've had A/Ts and can definitely say I don't need them and wont buy them ever again.

That's not to say other folks are wrong and they don't need them.

I drive 'green lanes every single day - through light mud and across grass regularly and I've never stuck yet on a road-biased tyre - 80% road, 20% off-road.

A/Ts are not the best tyre type for snow on tarmac either.

I used to think I needed A/T tyres and put up with the noise as I new no better - tyre technology has moved on a lot in the last 15 years or so.

My 17 are 225/55/17 I believe they are the original size
Where did you get 235 from

235/55/17 is a common size and fits FL1 perfectly. Feels and looks more planted on road than 225. Mine are Dunlop Winters on front and Bridgestone Duellers on back (SV has (expensive) Continental 4x4's on his, I believe). These tyres are designed for SUV / Light truck and are 80/20 road biased. Is this about right SV?

Spot on there DD3. :D

Price of Contis need not be a problem as there are plenty of part-worn 235s about.

M-Benz 4X4s, Porche Cayennes, and Ford Kugas all run 235/55 17s.

My summer tyres - Contisport2s are a stock size on several M-Benz cars too.

Such well heeled folks seem to buy a new pair when they have a puncture on one, and it isn't difficult to find tread-depth matches.

In the past 3 years I've bought quite a few and only had one that turned out cr*p.

They come up on eBay regular - I bought 2 Conti4X4Contacts last year with 7mm on them for £75 the pair.

I try to keep a step ahead and always have a couple in the garage waiting.
