hoping someone on here may be able to help!!!

I have a N (96?) disco auto 300tdi. This morning when I went to it the key fob (2 key version) would not open it. So I used the key to open the drivers door. Put the key in the ignition, the engine spun but would not start. Imobiliser light was not on on the dash and all other lights working fine. Tried the keyfob again but no joy so replaced batteries, still no joy.

Decided that it may be the spider probelm so ripped out the dash but no spider so doe this make mine EDU?

tried all other stuff such as disconnecting the battery, resyncing the key fob etc but stll no joy. I called out the AA but they were at a loss as well. they checked over my key fob which appeared to be working ok.

Does anyone ahve any ideas please as i am at my whits end!!

do you know if yours is possibly a Jap reimport. No spider fitted in car. However lots of extra interlocks. Double check all levers, gearshift etc and Hi-Lo are fully home as this has caused problems in the past.Maybe not your fault but worth a try

IF yours is EDC? model then there is no spider. As you've discovered. Robint had the exact same problem as you. & had to get an autoelecktrickery bod to come out and hack the sealed solenoid unit on the fuelpump. so that it would start but immobiliser was disconnected.

never had any probs till now, dont think its a jap import...many owners and lots of history. I am only of the opinion that it is EDc cos of no spider. As i said ripped out dash and nothing there.....

Apparently you can 'work around' the fuel pump intelocks??? but I was looking for a more permanent fix.

Spent 12 hours today trying to get this sorted.....compeltely peed off to say the least. Every time I start to get fond of the old thing it does something to change my mind.

still no joyt with this,,getting ready to bin it,

Deffo no spider but the injector pump doesnt have the three wire dds thingy. There is a plastic rectangular thingy on the top with a load of wires going to it and a couple of wires that go to something underneath and a single wire to what looks like a selonoid on top adjacent to the injector pipes.

Central locking still not working and engine wont start but spins over

what to do?

wherein dash did you look ,spider s on top of heater unit behind radio there are 3 types of immobiliser ,edc which has no direct cables from accelerator pedal to injection pump and a wire on no4 injector doenst need immobilising as such as ecu works pump, spider which cuts earths and feed to starter relay and stop solenoid,or on back of pump is black box held on with shear bolts and is dds covering stop solenoid ,which can be broken off and single feed given to solenoid inderneath

that wasnt edc then but dds protected pump which can be broken off and fresh feed fitted

mine is definitely fly by wire but there is no three wire box on the back if the pump. It has a plastic box on one side nearest the engine with loads of wires going to it. I took this off (or tried to) had to drill out one anti tamper bolt but lifted the box as far as it would go but no selonoid underneath just a load of cables going into the pump. May have buggered something up (strained one of the internal cables) trying to get it off but thought this was the DDS everyone mentions.

There is another set of cables (two) which go under the pump to something underneath.

my pump looks like the one in the attached file
