Been offered a set of 17" alloy wheels for my 01 Freelander which currently has the 15" alloys, is there anything that would need doing to the car or are they just bolt and drive ? Don't want to buy them to find out they won't fit right

There is a potential issue with early pre 2000 wheels not fitting the brakes of the later post 2001 MY FL1, but I'm sure 17" wheels only became available after the 2001MY brake upgrade, so they should fit just fine. Make sure you use the correct nuts, if you are going from steel wheels to alloy wheels.
The other thing is to make sure the new wheels have 4 identical tyres, and the tyres with the most tread must be fitted to the rear.
Many owners find the standard 225/55/17 tyre too small, so prefer to fit 225/60/17 or 225/65/17 tyres instead. ;)
