Evening folks, I have been running a set of 15`` alloys and tyres on my 2002 freelander but got offered and brought a standard set of 16`` freelander alloys with 215/65 good year wrangler tyres with a tread of 5mm plus on all tyres. Put them on and checked and spun the wheels, all good clearance but when driving the road noise is a awful lot more than the 15`s to the point where it don't sound good. Unfortunately I sold the 15`s on so cant swap back. Are the good year known for excessive road noise or is it possible coincidence and something more serious. I have removed the prop shaft etc for summer use.

any help greatly recieved

Rough tread patterns make more noise. That's the reason for removing my general grabber at2's.

I've got goodyear wranglers on mine, they are fairly noisy and as they wear down they get noisier mine are coming up to the tread wear markers now thank god.....

Wranglers are known for uneven blocks of tread arnt they? Uneven blocks cause noise. My back ones were bad on my original wheels

Try moving front tyres to rear assuming all treads are roughly the same
