130 camper build

hi,i am building this 130 camper its coming along a bit slowly but we are getting there







chassis was solid except for this crossmember replaced with galv



start of the subframe build












floor panel stuck down to the glued and riveted ally sheet



box section frame the glued and bolted down



panels cut to shape waiting for the door to come and cut that in before sticking it all together...2 main reasons for it going so slowly is all the research on the net for information on how to build and where to source stuff and lead times...6 weeks panels ....month for welders ...etc etc ....still we are getting there

awesome. using the aluminium will bring the weight down a bit. Looking forward to seeing this come along

I thought you started with the inner skin so the panels can be slid inside easily. Then wire and onto insulation, finally cladding the outside.

That’s how I’m doing mine. I think.

Easier to get the walls ups,mark where the cabinets etc are to go then run your electric,water in.
Best to have a plan & draw it on the floor then you know it’s going to fit.

Yea. That’s how I figured. Inside skin then fit out. The external skin becomes redundant until everything is framed out and wired in.

Looks ruddy good though

You can tell it’s a winner, just by the T shirt

Have a look at all the caravan self builds on YouTube. They all fit the inner wall skin first after the frame is built. Then frame out the fixtures and fittings. Extra noggins, anchors and fixing points can be fitted from the outside. Once any wiring or pipe work is layed inside the walls they normally then insulate from the outside, between the frame then fit the outer skin.

40 mm insulated panel with 150mm x3mm ally insert strips positioned where you are going to mount cabinets ect,floor has ply sheet incorporated for extra strength...see the off cut
