12v????

Ive got me centre concole out and there is a funny little black wire with a metal silver bit on the end that comes out from the same area as the 12v socket wires should this be connected to something?

Funny little black wires are normally earths.
Its possible the earth has broken off the 12v socket.

there is still the earth and live connected to the 12v socket was just wondering what the other one was its abit longer stretches as far as the handbrake

Does your socket illuminate when you put the lights on, it may well be the wire that should be connected elsewhere for this. Why not put a meter on it, turn on the ignition, turn on the lights and see if any power registers.

i keep finding random little wires everywhere in mine. must be the wiring for summat my model doesnt have i'd guess. if everything is working then it cant really be important

I thought the additional wiring was only added to the late Discos like TD5's and not the earlier 200 and 300's.

Mine's got lots of wires not connected to anything...it hasn't got heated seats, front fog lamps, heated front windscreen and probably more things, so I assume the unused wiring is for them

My 300 Tdi was base model, without electric windows, mirrors etc ... I've since added elec mirrors, elec headlamp adjusters and a couple of other bits .. all wires are in place in the loom and I've just added the switches and other 'bits' ..

oh yes, elec headlamp adjusters, I haven't got those either...
Mine is an ES, but an early 300 TDI. It has air con, twin electric sun roofs and full leather seats but none of the other bits that later ES models had

Manufactures use only one wiring loom, its cheaper for them rather than stocking a different one for each trim level, hence all the wires that don't go anywhere and cause us all this confusion
