12v supply?

I want to fit a work light to the back of my disco and I'm wondering where there is a 12v supply I can tap off that is switched by the ignition. Is there a +12v bus bar somewhere or is it going to be a case of cutting into existing cables or hooking up to spare/unused connectors under the steering wheel?

I put my work light off a second battery with split charge, dont have to worry about draining the starter battery or have the engine running.

If it's a Disco 1, then I know that in the rear quarter panel, behind the rear light cluster, driver side, is the towball loom connector - i THINK theres a switched live on the plug.

Any switched lives near the front end of the car or under the bonnet that I can feed off ? I want something close to my switch on the dash if poss.

I run a 21watt hand held halogen work lamp off the ciggy socket without any probs, that's switch so u can extent that to the rear may be.

It would be far better and "safer" if you wire your worklamp / s by using the igntion feed to trigger a relay to supply the lights. Most works lamps are 55w and above, you should not really "tap" that of any other supply imo.

You might be better taking a supply direct from the battery thro an in-line fuse and then switching it as UP ^^^^^ says through an ignition controlled relay.
