About 3 or 4 years ago I saw a Series Land-Rover with a longer than usual wheelbase in the Co-Op car park in Lampeter. It had a coachbuilt wooden pick up body on the back. I wander if this is the one you've picked up?

Picture #5 seems to show where the chassis has been cut and lengthened. My guess is that it's not a factory conversion. I can't really remember much about the vehicle: It had a standard front end as I recall but the rear body seemed to be of a kind of oldy worldy 1930s sort of style. It was a very unusual looking and striking vehicle. I think it was mostly a maroon colour. Do you have any of the bodywork? What are you planning on doing with it?

Hi Fenby, seems this could be the one, the only bodywork is the bulkhead and bonnet which is light yellow, although the lower bulkhead where the hinges are is maroon! As to what I will do with it I don't have a clue at the moment. I do have a spare 2.5 N/A diesel engine, so that may go in it , but as to bodywork, who knows? As it tends to take a while for motivation on my part I may sell it on as a project and invest the money in the series one projects - more motivation required!. Many thanks for your input.

Just had a look in the LR Series 3 parts catalogue and it shows chassis numbers begining 9010 as being pre 1979 88" 2.25 petrol series 3 for home distribution - if that helps

When I saw this on ebay I did some digging and sent the seller this after he gave me the VINs and reg

The chassis number 91105209G brings up
this

Model: Land Rover, Series III
Body type: Basic
Wheel base: 109in
Engine: petrol
Model years: 1972-1979
Destination: Home market, right-hand drive (RHD)
Design: Six significant design modifications

So this indicates you theory about land rover having modified it might be correct but I think it would have been done later as it appears to have left the factory as a 109

The bulkhead number 90104411A idicates the bulkhead to have been replaced by one off a bog standard series 3 88”

the registration on the tax disc indicates
Make: Land Rover
Engine Size: 3330cc (I don't know of any original land rove engine of that size?)
Engine Number: unkown
First Registered: 14 Nov 1972
Former Keepers: 4
Last Keeper Change: The last recorded change of keeper occurred on 3 May 2006
Body: Light Goods
Colour: Beige
Fuel: Heavy Oil

Engine Size: 3330cc (I don't know of any original land rove engine of that size?)

he did say there is a poorly perkins init so this could well be true
