110 puma transmission over hear

Just investigated availability of decat pipes for pumas, they are available for 2.4's for about £70 and I expect it would fit the 2.2 subject to further investigation. As I have not done this job before, does fitting one upset the engine management system in any way? any sensors need sorting to trick the system into thinking the cat is still there? I am thinking to fit one when the cat finally rots out.
