Impending MOT forced a bit of a refresh on the 2a.
List of jobs was:
1. replace rear x-member
2. Fix footwells
3. reseat exhaust (slight leak at manifold)

Photos are:
Hard top and tub off
Bit of rot
X-member off
Rot almost to spring hanger
Investigate foot wells
Pillars filled with builders foam and filler!
Well safe
Bit of fab using the slicer
New x-member on

Chassis looks good apart from few holes in outriggers that will be sliced and filled with new sheet. Bulkhead needs a lot more work, new pillar feet and will replace both foot wells complete. Hope the weekend is good again....

Sorry Photos are small, couldn't get the big ones to upload :(

Nice work so far :)

What engines going in it? Original or a tdi?

Keeping original derv unit. Will do the timing chain, new injectors and glows while it's out.

Only had half a day this weekend (and my paddocks order didn't turn up.....grrr waste of express delivery). Had the old man run over bits with a wire brush during the week, found a few more "thin" bits.

Zombie restoration alert!

Having taken almost a year off from the "refresh" (which has turned into a more major resto) and Landyzone, here's a little update.

First, where I stopped last spring. I put the new rear member in ok, but then found last of other chassis damage and rot. Bit the bullet, engine off, made a gantry crane, avoided the weather....left engine in parents garage.
