I see where you are getting at. Is this just for ease of getting out
of the back?
It is fairly tempting just to do away with the normal step and extend
my doors (I think i could do it so that it looked like a normal step
when closed) and then just bolt a normal landy rear step onto the rear
cross member or something.

That would be 10kg wouldnt it?. It must be heavier than that!.

I'm still considering the roof. An ally ladder and then a hand winch
and a little platform that the wheel can go on and then slide up the
ladder...
