hi everyone, ive aquired a 10 spline detroit locker with hardened shafts and wondered if the diff and half shafts will bolt straight into my 24 spline axle. will the shafts be the same lentgh and will the flange bolt straight up to the hubs? i know somewhere along the line the 24's dont fit into the 10's but not sure about the other way round

Early ones I would say a defo yes as I helped a mate go from 10 to 24 spline diff/shafts,so it must work the other way round. I don't think they changed much untill the td5 came out.

the only problem ive heard of is the 24 spline shafts are too big for certain 10 spline axles but its looking good the way i want to do it.

Im confused now,so you want to put 24 into a 10 or a 10 into a 24? standard shafts are same apart from number of splines.

i meant that when you use a 10 spline casing for a 24 spline diff and shafts the 24 spline shafts dont go through the stub axle. but this is only on certain 10 spline axles

you will need to change the stub axles as the 10 spline ones are longer, you will also need to change the hubs to suit, other than that you should be ok

What year and type are talking about. My mates was a 90 with an early 10 spline rangy axle.We fitted ashcroft HD 24spline shafts and some HD pegged diff he found from somewhere. Only trouble was a couple of the studs needed changing for longer ones.

ok thanks. that was what i was concerned about because i have abs and not sure how thats goin to work with swapping hubs etc
