1-Ton 109" in Chesterfield - genuine article

Nothing to do with me but have been passed these details.

Hi , Im Neill from Cavendish Motors in Chesterfield, i just bought a LR to scrap, when i first looked at it i spotted a few clues as to it might be a 1ton. When i got it back to my place and checked it is, Series3 chassis no 26600120B, the chassis is shot, the bulkhead is shot, it has a nasty(unidentified)diesel in it, seats gone. It still has salisbury BOTH axles and the 1ton gearbox. It seems a shame to scrap it if someone out there wants a resto challenge. picture attatched. you can phone me at work on 01246 231156.

It is a genuine 1-Ton, only a handful of these left so hopefully it can find a good home. Obviously the engine is incorrect as are the wheels and tyres.

it's not a series 3

The first, second, and third digits indicate the model and specification.
241-258,260-324 = Series IIA 88" & 109"

I think you will find it most certainly IS a series III, the 266 chassis prefix is correct for a 1-Ton.

229 - 2.6 Home Market RHD 170 built
222 - Export RHD 52 built
223 - Export LHD 64 built
224 - Completely Knocked Down RHD
225 - CKD LHD

Series III

266 - 2.6 Home Market RHD 238 built
267 - Export RHD 64 built
268 - Export LHD 148 built
269 - CKD RHD
270 - CKD LHD

Fair play chap. I had to send an email to CALvin some time ago to put them straight on a few things re chassis numbers. I have a document here that I got from Gaydon which lists them all plus build figures, most interesting reading.
