Howdy all,

With all the recent threads on 'lifting my disco' 'body lift' etc, got me thinking.
I don't do much serious off roading, but like the odd off road course etc.

After recently fitting the -35 offset modulars, and then the extended arches, I have noted that the tyres are now pretty close to the front arches, esp when turning, which I didn't anticipate when I decided to go down this route - guess the offset has put them in-line with arches.

As you can see here circled red...

I currently run a 1" lift with HD bearmach springs, and don't want to go to the trouble of re-doing my suspension, since it’s all pretty new.

I certainly do not want to go 'huge' with suspension/lifts/tyres etc, as happy in what I am running (265/70/16 BFG A/T's) so was considering just a 1" lift.

Apart from the bumpers not aligning - is there anything else that would need extending with only 1", as from what I have found looks like everything will be ok with only 1" lift - but just thought I would ask to see if anyone else has only lifted by 1", as all the threads I have found are lifts of 2" min.

Also its an Auto, so will it only be the difflock gear lever need an extension - as guessing the auto lever won't need touching?

This is a kit I have found....

You'll need to undo the bolt on the steering joint to allow it to extend. Your radiator will lift by an inch too, so it would be worth making some pins to support it in it's new position.
Other than that, just keep an eye on things like clutch line, heater hoses, fuel filler, abs sensor wires and brake lines but at just 1" you should be OK.

As you already have a suspension lift I'd fit extended brake lines if you haven't already. Common consensus is that a 2" lift is the max the standard ones are capable of, but it's better to have a little extra for piece of mind.

I have just fitted 10x15 et35s with 33s and my tyres rub on the rock sliders just as i start turning. Its only slightly so probably just going to get the angle grider out and dress the sliders a bit.

Yeah, I noticed that - did the same to my sliders - took about an inch off the front - up to the bar coming out and then welded on a new cap - you can see in that old pic above them sticking out a bit.

Unbolt the fuel filter housing from the body or the lift pump will get ####ed up lol. Bolt it back on lower when your done. And there's nothing on a 1" lift you don't need to do for a 2" lift. May aswell go the extra inch.

That's food for thought - as I wondered if it might be simpler, but if the same work is required, then as you say might look into a 2" lift

Don't forget the rear seat belt anchor points will need extending and the boot floor will need to be supported .If you can do the lift in 2 hours as per the ad ,give Norris Mcwerter ( Guiness
book of records) a ring.
