Hi all. A question please. Are the 2 breather hoses connected to the filler pipe neck the same hose(s) as the fuel tank breather hose? If not, where does the fuel tank breather hose go to (from the petrol tank)? I'm having fuel tank pressure issues which is causing fuel starvation / missing, which is temporarily cured by opening the petrol cap, leading to a belief that a fuel tank breather hose is blocked. However to unblock it, I have to find the non fuel tank end, and see if this is the case. If it goes to say the inlet manifold or via a filter or via something else, it could be this that's causing the starvation problem. When opening the fuel tank a whoosh of air is heard / felt. Appreciate any knowledgable views / suggestions, other than buying a diesel!:(

You could have an EVAP purge valve that is stuck open. The engine ECU modulates the purge valve to draw off vapours and burn them. There's a pipe that feeds the vapours into the inlet manifold. So if the purge valve is open, manifold depression is applied to the tank.

I'm wondering if the purge valve is being opened, maybe it is related to the other electrical problem with the cooling fans?
You need to measure the voltage at the purge control valve connector.

Can't find anything about an EVAP in the manual for a 2005 1.8i petrol K series. Whereabouts on the inlet is the EVAP purge valve?

On the FL1, the charcoal canister is under the RH rear wheel arch. From memory, the purge valve is fitted to the inlet manifold, or near to it.

Hi again Nodge ! Ha ha ! Fuel filter sensor fitted in the new pump so the fuel meter in the dash reads right, but now the car is hard to re-fuel at the petrol station.Got the click problem ! So, i remember when cyphoning out the petrol from the tank to filter the fuel and refill the tank, that i clean the inside of the tank first. I remember that i touched something on the inside top part of the tank and was concerned that i moved something or other. Could it have been something to do with the fuel full valve or? Or line that runs to the charcoal filter ? Or more likely, due to the fuel meter having the wrong resistance sensor that showed the wrong fuel level, that i over filled the tank and caused a problem in the charcol evap canister ? And somehow blocked , is causing the click mechanism on the fuel station pump ? What should i do ...? Take pipes apart and see if they are blocked etc ? Please let me know what you think, greatful as ever , arnodafe72
