Surley They Dont All Go Im Aware Of The Hg Trouble On Some Of Thease Engines, this Motor Bin Trouble Free For Thr Past 2 Years I Know The Previous Owner, I Am Keepin My Fingers Crossd Tho

The 1.8 litre engine has a 100% failure rate. My advice is like Dave says, don't chip it. It WILL end in tears. If you want performance get the V6, they go like stink :D I should know!

dont get a V6, they're just as bad as the 1.8

Yes they are, I blew a HG at 38k miles. My point was they are dam fast for a 4x4 and don't need playing with :p

LR guy whats the latest hgf you have seen (ie 2005,2006 reg)also do you find the post 2002 modals don`t seem to take the engine with them when the head gasket go`s ?,as i`ve not heard many people say they have ,as your on the front line i bet you see plenty thats only why i ask:)

you must have a good one then cos i didn't think they were all that, the main problem with 'em is (apart from the heads) they need to keep revving (hard!) to get any good performance and the gearbox ratios are all wrong, when they change gear the revs drop so low its out of the powerband and goes flat with no pull

much better if you use the steptronic shift though

yup there just as bad lol new engines new gaskets new everything it all fails lol even the nuts that hold it together its all ****e,

ok slight exageration, the new multi layer head gaskets not been around long enough yet to see if they work ok or not, if you by an exchange engine now they come with new style gasket.
