I was looking at fuel pumps a how to change etc. I think mine is not well... Any way took the inspection plate off to take a look . What surprised me was that even thought the pump has two of the fuel pipe connectors only one of them had a pipe connected and the other was blanked off. Everything i have seen online shows two pipes to the pump.. Was something different on very early Freelanders?

I've not had cause to look yet, but was surprised to see that the injector fuel rail does not appear to have a fuel return line? It left the factory like this, and I suspect that the second pipe you have noticed blanked off is a redundant fuel return?

Hopefully someone who knows will be here shortly! ;)

No return on the Freelander. However the pump housing is used on a few vehicles, some of which have a return ;)

If the pump is more than 60K miles old, the filter will be clogged and the pump will be working overtime, just to pass the fuel through the filter.
