Hi all,

Bit of a weird problem with our 2007 Freelander 2, occasionally the left indicator starts indicating of its own accord. Just found out it is an uncommon fault with the wiper stalk (youtube vid showing exact issue we are having). Secondly the front wiper jets aren't spraying water, we have been told this is also a faulty switch in the stalk.

I can get a replacement confirmed working stalk from eBay for £25, however the problem I am having after a bit of investigation this evening is that I can remove the top part of the steering cowl but I can't see how you remove the lower part that has the steering adjustment. Not being able to remove lower half of cowl means I can't replace said stalk.

Anyone got a few pointers how to remove the lower part of the steering cowl please.

Thanks in advance

Yes, its a common issues, the indicators coming on because the wiper switch is faulty - LR garages usually say the BCM needs replacing also.

To remove the lower part of the steering cowl, the back bumper must first be removed - and LR garages recommend replacing the Haldex unit at the same time.

Those F2s, such fun :)

When you say back bumper do you mean the back bit of the lower part of the cowl?

I am assuming that the level for the steering adjustment just slots through the lower part with no messing?

Buying the part and installing is a simple enough as it is just slot in and 2 screws (if I can get the lower cowl off), garage charge a fair whack here to instrall a part like this.

Erm no

Please don't remove the back bumper - I don't expect it will help much, but I wouldn't be surprised seeing some of the stuff that goes through here and elsewhere about the F2.

I've never sat in an F2 let alone dismantled the steering column.
