hi all.my friend has askedme to sort his freelander for him.its a 2005 commercial model with manual gearbox.he just had the clutch and flywheel replaced and all was well until he lost all drive while towing a horse box.all the gears can be selected normally.are there any common issues that would cause this?

Does it still have the prop on or is it a 2wd?

Prop off - could be the gear box input splines for the n/s drive shaft.

Does it make any noises, when you say gears can be selected do you mean with the clutch pedal up or down?

hi.the rear prop is still fitted, the gears can be selected without using the clutch but its easier using the clutch
the car cant go back to the garage that done the clutch work as they got very abusive when it was mentioned that they hadn't done a very good job as it was only taken to them in the first place with a slipping clutch which they replaced and then charged again for replacing the dmf when they didn't check it first time round

O sorry to hear that....does sound like they are at fault...they have done major work to the bits that are causing you problems now.....trading standards......they have done a **** job. so you have every right to say so.

+1 even the threat of trading standards is normally enough to get there arse in gear
