Hello all,

Mate of mine has a 04 4.0 V8 petrol L322, when he bought it the engine light was intermittent on, the previous owner said it was a Lamba sensor and gave him a new Bosch one to fit. Using my basic diag tool we figured out which sensor was at fault and swapped it. Car was fine for a about a week before the light came back on, car not used very often. Wanting to get it sorted, just wondering if sensors need to be changed in pairs and if anyone knows the correct part number to cross reference to the one we fitted.

Thanks in advance for advice

If its not used very often is the battery up to scratch.
I dont know if low voltage would throw that fault but "not used very often" throws flags up.
When it is used is it short runs?

I have never heard of the need to change in pairs.
Do you have the part number of what was fitted?

J

Battery is new and kept topped up as stored in a dry shed. I'll get the part number and post it when my mate gets back to me.

Thanks

Attached is the box of the new sensor fitted plus the one removed, the part numbers look the same.

If not the sensor what possible other reason can it be for intermittent fault.

I put my diagnostic machine on it a while back before MOT and it pointed to the sensor fault and identified which sensor so that was the one we swapped. Light went out, MOT passed, car was used for a week as my mate had some friends over from the continent and was fine but now the light comes on intermittently, I guess I need to pop the diagnostic back on it and check it is the same fault.
