I have a forge actuator myself and the throttle response at low revs is much better and the pressure is building up smoother up to the limit

When you say forge actuator, is this a replacement for the wastegate actuator? Also, I have to free mine off every couple of weeks or so with wd40, but its annoying when it then sticks and wont accelerate properly, do you have any recommendations as to how to lube it to keep it constantly free? Many thanks

@Gottschalk .

Is it the actuator or the wastegate that is jamming?

If it is the wastegate actuator giving you that much grief maybe you should think of getting a forge, not a bad price for £117. I was looking at it earlier.

Cheers

Ermm not sure! I thought they were one and the same lol!

Basically where the rod connects to the pivot is where (I presumed) it to be sticking, as I spray wd on the pivot and grip the rod and move it back and forth until its free, sometimes its solid andi have to put an immense amount of pressure to get it to budge!

Sorry, I'm sounding like an utter newb!!

@Gottschalk

This is the forge actuator,http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/Ad...Defender_or_Discovery_TD5--product--1033.html

Sounds more like your wastegate is sticking and needs some TLC rather than a quick spray of WD40....

Cheers

Thanks for the link.

I wasn't aware that there was anything you could do to maintain the wastgate tbh, as most posts and the bloke from dynachip seemed to alude to the fact that you de-cease the pivot and thats that. I tried white grease etc, but obviously the heat from the manifold makes this somewhat redundant. Tbh I hadn't even thought of replacing the wastgate hence my first question on the subject!
Ta for the heads up! :)

Bought mine today about 2pm, already dispatched and arriving tomorrow! Shall fit and report back.

My Nanocom however is NOT playing ball! Reset it, updated it, still wont bloody record data.

Hi @bankz5152 ,

How are you trying to get your nano to record data?

The latest one will record automatically. iirc in instrument mode.
If you try it in engine mode, I think you have to save it at the end of recording.
I know it does not appear to be intuitive, I kept recordiing and then finding nothing.

Cheers

Mine doesn't do that, I don't think its updating properly. Not sure why...

'Inputs Fueling' then pressing the floppy disk icon, everytime I get 'Could not open save file' then 'input recording active' I stop it and get 'input recording stopped' but **** all is saved to the SD card. Come to think of it i've always had issues saving live data, only managed to do it once.

Spoke with BBS about my Nanocom generally being a d!ck and it looks like I need to update it to the latest firmware. Shall do this when I get home and see if I can get some live data then report back, see if anything else is a miss.
this is why I on a diesel engine I leave the maps alone
from experience the amount of times my cars have been useless due to waiting for a response or then need to update my firm ware to find there problem they have created

when I purchased my Td5 i installed a lpg system ,this will beat any remap
the flip side need to refill bottle at a cost of 14 dollars AU every 8 to 9 weeks heavy use
the good thing is the system can be removed and easily installed into another vehicle without programming

Does that mean youre saying that LPG will add ~70hp and ~200nm of torque?

Injector harness - common - now changed (original was a cheapo one)
MAF - Common - now changed for a VDO
MAP - Not common but running 24psi of boost, fair enough

The other codes have not come back either, im always up for experimenting and fettling until its right, which I believe it is now.

I had a quick run out today, everything appears to be running perfectly now! Shall give it a proper run Sunday

It had saved somehing from before!! Cleared up! I worked out the forge in the end, its very pretty and very well made. Throttle is much sharper now and comes on boost a tad quicker too

i would say so but depends how much LPG is used

my regulator is set at 8 psi unsure how much HP but it launches you into the rear seat so good enough for me ..using LPG also saves on fuel ...my TD5 will take off quicker than a standard v8 petrol ute (been done many times as me and a work friend race each other leaving work ...without the LPG i don't stand a chance against the light weight 5 litre v8 ute just wondering would a remap do the same thing compared to power to weight ratio

i towed a jackaroo 4wd 2 weeks ago.. using the LPG on hills i never knew i was towing

its really simple if i decide one day i want more power i turn my regulator up a couple of psi job done
...also in the process of installing the same thing into a TD 2 litre ford focus this thing will be a beast

Sounds good, Do you adjust it the same way as the normal actuator?

Cheers
No it's different, you have to adjust it unhokked then connect the rod cos once connected it's fix... though a friend of mine made an adjuster for me on the lathe which RH thread one way and LH the other if you see what i mean

like sierraferry said un hook the arm adjust and refit
the forged waste gate actuator uses a different material in the spring and size this gives better control over the stock actuator
less prone to boost spikes more smoother movement means better control
either way remapping for extra power regardless of how good the actuator is the waste gate inside the turbo is the same size (the flap inside turbo housing ) this is why high performance vehicles install external waste gates (even more and better control )

when your adjusting the rod length a short blast around the block it may be ok ..out on the open road at 70 /80 mph your boost may increase due to engine load and you may see more boost at these speeds when wanting more power

don't get to greedy while adjusting small increments at a time and test drive
