Harness is for the HeVAC system to stop the in cabin temp fan from running - can’t remember the TSB details for this fix - google should find it
When I had access to the TOPiX system a while ago, I downloaded all the available TSB's for the L322 - they can be found here....

Have a browse, it may be in there....

Just read that article and it is a lot of total bunkum to be honest...I am not going to go into it now as I am about to start getting the kids ready for bed....but their description of why the CH gets hotter is ball-cocks...

The expansion of the liquid into gas is done in the Vap and not the CH...they say it evapourates in the CH...if this is so, then it wouldn't burn as it has evapourated and changed physical state due to this (Thermodynamics!) and in any case evapouration cools things done - it is one of the other laws of Thermodynamics....

Anyhow....It is not well written and is not totally correct!

Oh, and LPG has a higher energy (calorific value) than petrol but conversely is of less calorific value due to its density when compared to petrol which is why you need to inject 10-15% more 'fuel' than you would running on petrol and not because it burns cooler......and you don't put your foot down further to get the same power out of LPG - a properly set up system will be calibrated to mimic petrol output by increasing (automatically) the amount of gas injected at a given engine running parameter.....

I could go on...but time is pressing!

If you have a phase change with a mixture of liquid and gas then the temperature will be the boiling point of that liquid until it has all turned into a gas, no matter how much energy you pour in. Gas takes up massively more space than liquid, even cold dense gas.

((P1*V1)/T1) = ((P2*V2)/T2)

Simples.....the basic Combined Gas Law......was one of the first things we were taught in Thermodynamics at University. As the liquid expands into its gas state and therefore takes up more volume, this expansion causes a massive lowering of the temperature (in order to balance the equation).....

So how can the article as written state that when the liquid 'evaporates' as they call it increase the CH temps?? it's impossible! hence why the vap (which is actually what is used to allow the liquid to change state) is heated by the engine coolant in order to prevent it freezing due to the expansion of the liquid into gas as it boils off.....if anything, this expansion will cool the CH as the gas is fecking cold.....

Hence my comment that the article is a load of bunkum......

(And I know what I am talking about with regards to Cryogenic Liquids - I designed a Cryogenic Liquid Nitrogen Processing Plant for Heathrow Airport back in 2009....and studied Thermodynamics and Thermofluids at Universtiy as aprt of my Aeronautical Engineering degree!)

I'm going to collect on Thursday so we'll see how it performs during rush hour going back up the A3/M25
There's several cheepo varients on eBay -- and there's a Hella that's £206 inc +p&p -- I'll do your newspaper check I've got several issues of theGuardian hanging in the toilet
The Guardian is a bit left wing limp for a fan test.

The Guardian is a bit left wing limp for a fan test.

Not now going down tomorrow as workshop wants to changeout the fan viscous coupling. Have ordered up the BMW equivalent from Germany (£343-odd inc VAT +delivery from main agent, £43 inc both from Germany)

When I did my NCTJ at London College of Printing we were taken to theGuardian's works in Farringdon Road to see the last of the hot metal compositing rooms in operation. There was a smaller compositing room in the basement. Where Militant was laid out "on the stone". That was printed on the same presses as Guardian's. There is no connection -- no, none whatsoever. Just a financial consideration that's all -- nothing whatever to do with Moscow... nothing to see here...

I'm not going into one of those Cryogenic chambers then.
I'd probably wake up in a gaseos state. And cold

Thanks for the TSB listing, will have a look now
<later> couldnt see it in the TSBs' listing you kindly posted. But here's a link that mentions:
http://www.landrover-center.com/rsm/Range-Rover-L322/15409

<even later> its in BD162 (2004 issued) wherever that might be found

<much even later> its here:
https://www.rangerovers.net/forum/6-range-rover-mark-iii-l322/278-hdc.html
but without the pictures showing what's actually connected to what and where. But I've formatted what's been posted into .doc format. If anyone needs PM me an email address and I'll attach by return.

B162 v2 refers to VIN range 4a153466 to 4860 so guess that'd be north American VIN's series
Mine's an '03MY with a 3a VIN number. Whether that means I'd still be vulnerable. Or that something changed from the 4a series as indicated, I dunno o_O

I'm not too sure about this as I've had a letter back from DVLA giving me specific instructions on how to change fuel category and then claim the "alternative fuel" taxation rate -- I've done a quick hint file (.doc) about this but can't attach it here. It's not intuitive -- it entails reading many obscure pages on their web site -- of course that's not by design o_O

Since that February letter, on 26th June I had a rebate against a year's tax paid of £325 of a whole £9.17p. And a fresh V5C now showing Type of Fuel as GAS BI-FUEL. But although I forwarded the LPG Conversion Certificate to prove conversion that shows LPG after Conversion CO2 of 8.1 and Hydrocarbons of 1.07 (no units shown though), the emissions' listing on my new V5C has remained the same as it was for petrol -- CO, HC, NOx, and HC+NOx. So I'm still going to be discriminated against under TfL's or the pretentiously-named "Mayor's Office" uLEZ rules that don't allow me access to the congestion charge zone unless I cough up £12.50 -- the meaning of which is clear: those that can afford to cough up £12.50 for every visit are not polluters. I tried to raise these points with the "Mayor's Office" / TfL but still have had no reply.,

But it gets worse. It's already been shown that the basis of euro pollution monitoring and enforcement rules is scientifically wrong. It's diesel particulates that are the worst offenders. Petrol engines are not measured for particulates -- my V5C has no entry in that box

So, apart from the welcome small incentive from DVLA for owners of older vehicles converted to LPG, TfL / Mayor's Office are still enforcing old outdated euro-regs that do not (because DVLA does not update V5C information) recognise LPG's more clean-burning characteristics.
And those living and working in city centres are still subject to carcnogenic diesel particulates when the righteous left are going around claiming to be our saviours

Luckily there's only a few more months of this euro-inspired madness to endure (it says here March 29th -- is that right? Ed). Unless we've signed up to regulation harmonisation in this regard too without actually taking a look at what we're signing up to

Thought it might be useful to try and be constructive and post how I managed to get DVLA to change my V5C and give me a rebate: Applications for change of Taxation Class can only be made at payment of vehicle tax (with a V10 so I didn't apply until May coz I was SORN what with all my steering column lock problems); or if vehicle is already taxed (on a V70). The new category to be entered on either form is BI-FUEL TC59. Proof of conversion and the old V5C should be included.

It's right that there's raised awareness of the carcnogens that are being pumped out into breathable atmosphere. I live close to the junction of south Blackwall Tunnel A102 / A2 turn off so catch the brunt of Dover traffic. But to enforce against those individuals making a real effort to reduce their pollution and not encourage others to do likewise is just plain wrong.

To enforce simply by a pricing mechanism is wrong too. Polluters either pollute or they don't.
Irrespective of whether they've coughed up £12.50. Loony labour legislation by a loony London GLA / mayor's office

There's been no UK coal-fired power station running to support the national grid for Feb, March, or April. There's only seven remaining as strategic back-up. There will be none by 2025. UK will meet its neutral carbon targets by 2050, the first country in the world to publically commit.

There's 766 members of the EU parliament who are largely inhibited from making radical legislative changes that fly in the face of executive decisions. They're more interested (with 28 honourable exceptions) in standing up and saluting the EU's national anthem Ode to <cough, splutter> Joy

That address is the same address as the Conservative & Unionist Party former national HQ. There is no connection. No, none whatsoever. Just that the lease has passed on that's all. Nothing to see here

Although not a compulsory (thru EU diktat) scheme, the current "scrappage" offers don't appear to be "saving the planet" either. I can get a brand spanking new Toyota Land Cruiser and get £5,000 scrappage allowance against it for scrapping (my old, now sold) VW Passat 2.0L tFSI '06MY that meets Euro 4.

What happens to all the far more dangerous chemicals that are outside of the base metals' saved?

I still have two classics under restoration: Jaguar XJ6 series 1 '73MY, and a Jaguar Mk IX '61MY. I claim that restorers do more to "save the planet" by saving cars than does the scrappage scheme.

Of course Electric powerered, Hydogen Fuel Cell, LPG, and bi-fuel derivitives should be encouraged -- together with their conversions. That's not what's happening though.

n.b. Used to bang on about similar issues in the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club that I've been a paid up member for the past four years. Complete with identifying the party controlling the "authority" that impliments all this tosh. Except that the chairman's recently changed and is now stomping around (probably suffers from small mans' syndrome) with a blue crayon censoring postings that have "political" content. I've cancelled my Direct Debit. Free speech is indivisible.

While I'm waiting for Clarice to visit today (she wears the tiniest of mini-skirts in this hot weather) with my brief to tell me my hearing date, know better than anyone that the lunatics have taken over the asylum

The scrappage scheme is not about saving the planet or reducing pollution, it's all about keeping the motor makers in business. It actually increases pollution, as do electric cars.

I've been advised to use Dex Cool as the anti-freeze/inhibitor for this L322 M62 BMW engine.
Is this the right stuff?
If so, what's the dilution? It doesn't say on the 1L bottle

Apparently 50% is the norm. But still dunno whether Dex Cool is the right stuff or not.
Don't want to end up with some sludge in the system because remnants of the previous and Dex Cool have interacted. But last mechanic used Dex-Cool...

My overheat problems may be down to the electric thermostat that others in here have experienced.
So have ordered one up for swap out as my iCarsoft is giving the error code: "P0000 Electric Thermostat Fault. Last occurance - plausibility."

The fan viscous coupling has already been changed

Check to see whether you need an emissions sticker when driving in europe:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/t...n=nt-oneliners-two&utm_content=3#needtoknow-6

You certainly need a "CRIT-AIR" sticker to drive in Paris and the suburbs and several other major cities in France. No P38 diesel can now drive in Paris and I think that also applies to pre 2000 petrol cars. I'm not sure that LPG makes any difference to that.

Having LPG doesn't make a difference to uLez recognition because DVLA, when changing over the V5C record to show engine type Bi-Fuel, doesn't change over the new emissions' entries to the substantially lower figures on the LPG certificate o_O

So there's hope for me at my trial next year. My defence of "temporary insanity due to being in charge of an L322 Range Rover" should hold, says my brief who tells me there's no cell spaces anyway. I am defined as being of "no threat to society"

Common sense and government very rarely meet. The process is so much more important than any result. It is the last resort of ineffective middle management types who play with tax-payers money because they'd never dare risk their own with their limited abilities.
