hello i have an 03 diesel freelander. it is always a bit sluggish to start taking 3/4 secs to start then in the cold weather it just refuses to start. i can bump start it down the hill and now it wont even start when warm. there is hissing sound coming from the pump area infront of the engine. Any ideas would be appreciated.

think you need to identify what is causing the hissing, split hose, or cracked head or hgf.

check out the fuel system , possible fuel pump related issue , if you can identify the hissing that might help
