Ok then, so I have come into a bit of money (Thanks Taxman for messing up tax code...). And I might have £1500 to spend on a landy. So, I'm looking for a few tips on what I might get for £1500 - £2000. I'm looking for something fun but also maybe to tow a caravan with occaisonally.

So far the options seem to be

- 90. Well, maybe. A really early one which is totally knacked.
- Series 3. Could I get a decent series 3 for this sort of money? Or would it likely need lots spending on it? What are people's experiences buying recently...
- Disco. There seem to be a lot of disco's for this sort of money on fleabay? Am I likely to buying a whole world of trouble or bargain of the decade?

Let me know what you think. Perhaps you've bought something recently?
 
spend two thirds of whatever you get on the best disco you can find, spend the rest fixing the issues it WILL have
 
What Sean said. Save some money for replacement parts/repairs/upgrades.

Look for ones with little rust and listen to the engines closely .. it should run cleanly, a little smoke at start-up (I mean a little) is OK, clouds of it and any smoke while running look elsewhere. When you go to see it before bidding ask them not to start it at all that day until you get there so you can see and hear it start up from cold. Check the warmth of the engine first ... ;) On the test drive use all the gears, low-box too, and check the difflock light comes on and all still works well, going up and down the box in all conditions of the transfer box lever.

OI,
im in no rush to sell if i was it'd be on ebay and no doubt it'd do 2k, its mint 100,000 full history with all mot's n receipts oh r and a new gearbox wi warranty :p:p.. trouble is if i do sell it i gorra find sommat to replace it with and tbh wi all the landys ive had lately id be hard pushed to find summat as good :D:D... only me old pajero comes close :behindsofa:
